    This child-friendly space, located close to elevators and restrooms, is an environment where student parents and caregivers can get work done while accompanied by the ones they care for.

    Access to the room is available by keycode only to members of Michigan Caregivers and Student Parents (MCaSP).

    CEW+ assists hundreds of individuals each year as they make decisions about their future through free counseling that is open to everyone at U-M and in the community.

  • Child Care Subsidy

    The University of Michigan offers the Child Care Subsidy to students to assist with the cost of child care of their young, dependent children. To align with the university's plans in which students will pursue their education through in person, hybrid, and/or remote formats, the university has temporarily changed eligibility criteria for the Child Care Subsidy beginning fall term 2020.

  • Elder Care

    Elder Care responsibilities often come up unexpectedly and can lead to complications with work and family. The Work-Life Resource Center provides information on community resources to help you care for your aging relative, counseling services and support groups for caregivers, and housing options for seniors. Resources are also available to assist those who are long-distance caregivers.

  • Child Care Assistance

    If you cannot afford child care, payment assistance is available. Use MI Bridges to apply for assistance, check your eligibility status and manage your account.

    At CEW+, we give you the tools to thrive. We provide resources, guidance, and career and education counseling through many life transitions and challenging circumstances. Because no matter your path, we exist to empower.

  • Child Care in Campus Buildings

    With safety in mind, rather than setting up child care rooms and offering temporary care for campus events, U-M departments and programs are encouraged to support parents in securing their own child care off-campus. University rooms and spaces may be unsafe for children; equipment may be lacking; state child care licensing rules exist; and staffing requires background checks, training and supervision.

  • Children on Campus

  • Children's Special Health Care

    Children's Special Health Care Services (CSHCS). It's an insurance program through the state of Michigan for kids with qualifying diagnoses (there are many). It can be a supplement to other insurances including Medicaid. It provides additional coverage for equipment needs and the like.

  • Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP)

    Available in every county in the state. It's a program to support low income pregnant women and their babies. It's a multidisciplinary approach that includes a dietician, social worker and nurse to educate, monitor health and provide resources for mom and baby. There are several in Washtenaw County including at UM and St. Joe's.

  • Early On

    Also administered through MDHHS. It's an early intervention program providing services for kids with developmental delays or disabilities (and their families). For kids up to age 3. This is a program used widely for premature babies who need more time and intervention to meet their developmental milestones.

  • Healthy Kids

    Healthy Kids is a program that provides a wide range of health care coverage and support services for qualifying pregnant women, babies and children under age 19 (Healthy Kids Dental coverage is through age 20).

  • Student Advocacy (for Children)

    Students have a right to learn — no matter what. The Student Advocacy Center of Michigan helps students in grades K-12 stand up for their rights when they are suspended, expelled, denied special education support, or faced with racism or some other barrier at school. By working together, we can make sure students get the support they need to succeed.

  • Elder Carer Resources

    It’s staffed by compassionate people who know all about the organizations, programs, benefits and services available to assist seniors, people with disabilities and family caregivers here in the six counties we serve (Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Washtenaw). Our database gives us access to thousands of senior-focused organizations and programs.

  • Nontraditional Student Community Group

    Are you a student who does not fit the mold of a traditional University of Michigan student? Are you older than 24? A parent? Have others besides children dependent on your care? Working full-time? Attending U-M part time? Completed high school with a GED or other high school completion certificate? A military veteran? If so, we have a Transfer Community Group just for you. The Nontraditional Student Community Group offers a space for you to connect with others who share your life experiences and identity.

  • Domestic Student Health Insurance Plan (DSHIP) 2022-23

    U-M students, including undocumented students, who are enrolled in classes or between semesters (e.g. during spring/summer session) at the Ann Arbor, Dearborn or Flint campuses, including:

    Spouses, domestic partners of any gender, and children (up to age 26) of all the groups listed above are eligible if the student is enrolled in the Plan.

  • Michigan Marriage and Family Therapy Programs

    Michigan is home to the Great Lakes and, by extension, good fishing. If this vibe suits you and you’re hoping to pursue a marriage and family therapy license, you have a few options for studying in an accredited MFT program in Michigan. From here, we will explore some of the programs in Michigan and look at how to become licensed in the state.
